This is the most ambitious thing I've written to date. I'd come up with this strange little off kilter walkdown of notes on the guitar and started dreaming up a string section playing it in a descending line.
So i tried to write it. Then I added a second string line doing the chord notes, then a third, then horns, then timpani and so n until i'd written this enormous sounding thing that I'm very proud of.
The song is trying to find catharsis in endings. I'm not sure I've found it.
lyrics
Tell me a story
Make it a good one
Make it "Happy Ever After"
Tell me my future
But Lie to me
Make it "Happy Ever After"
If it's better to have loved and lost than never loved at all
Then why does a broken heart have scars that never quite heal?
Does it feel right to keep yourself closed off to everyone around?
You can't get hurt if you never allow yourself to feel.
Give me a reason for going outside
Make it fun and full of laughter
That I'll turn to disaster
So tell me a story
Hope in fiction
That it's "Happy Ever After"
If it's better to have loved and lost than never loved at all
Then why does a broken heart have scars that never quite heal?
Does it feel right to keep yourself closed off to everyone around?
You can't get hurt if you never allow yourself to feel.
Love Can Only End In Broken Hearts.
