There's something about this place that draws a bad crowd
The people that find themselves here are the ones who never quite made themselves fit

The rain falls with a regularity and a routine that's hard to match
Those dark clouds fill the sky so that they cast a pall
A sickly yellow tinge in the day

They come out, their teeth bared
Their breath like smoke on cold air
They move like shadows and whisper
That they're empty
That they're hungry
All us locals know to stay away from the alleys and the entries and the dark ends of the streets
But this city has an allure
it knows exactly what it needs and how to get it and it waits anxiously for the next set of people to step off of the trains and the buses
It knows how to feed
We learn quick how to turn a blind eye
This city will drag you down
This city is a hunting ground
